Librairie de France - Rare Books and Prints
Please bear with us as our new website is under construction
Bienvenue! Welcome to the world-famous French bookstore that was once in Rockefeller Center. At Librairie de France, old school service and top quality merchandise are what we’ve always been about. We still source the best in literature, textbooks, dictionaries, maps and other reading materials. In addition, our massive rare books and prints department is currently being catalogued. Drop us an email and check back in with us in the near future!
About Us
In 1935 we began as the now-oldest retail tenant of Rockefeller Center. In 2009 our world-renowned Librairie de France Bookstore closed its brick and mortar doors due to a rent increase.  However, our mail-order services to schools, bookstores, libraries, institutions and the general public continue. Founded almost a century ago in 1928, we were an independent, third-generation, family-owned bookstore with neither government nor corporate financial aid, and were a vibrant center of French cultural production. It was the only store of its kind in the country.
